We started Wattbird because Australia deserves a renewable energy company that doesn't disappear after the sale — one that installs it right, looks after it for 25 years, and takes responsibility for the end of its life.
Wattbird Australia launched in 2026, but our story starts much earlier. Our founders — also the founders of Greenfin — have been in the renewable energy industry since 2012, building and running solar businesses across New Zealand and South Africa before bringing that decade-plus of experience home to Australia.
Today we design and install premium rooftop solar, battery storage and EV-ready systems from branches in the Gold Coast (our HQ), Brisbane and Sydney — with more cities to come.
We only use licensed electricians with SAA accreditation — never unaccredited subcontractors — and every install complies with AS/NZS 5033, the Australian standard for solar array installation. That's the floor, not the ceiling.
What makes us different is what happens at the end. Most installers walk away once the panels are on. We log every system for its entire 25-year life, and when it retires our sister brand Junkbird collects and recycles it — 100%, through EPA-authorised facilities, with a stewardship certificate to prove it.
